Yantras are geometric images from the tantric tradition, drawn by the practitioner and used as tools of meditation. They are combined with the corresponding mantras – sound frequencies, and utilising both sound and form, the creation of yantra can be a profoundly insightful and healing practice.

The drawing of geometry as a contemplative meditation is designed to inwardly remind the soul of its divine source. Through outwardly embodying forms of cosmic beauty and harmony the soul is reminded of its True Self. In this way the geometer is the midwife who gives birth to the cosmos in emulation of God the ‘Divine Geometer’ who brings forth the whole Universe in each new moment. Five and ten-fold geometric symmetry embodies the so-called Golden Ratio. This particular type of geometry is found very commonly within the growth of flowers and plants and it is even present within the human DNA spiral. The relationship of 5 and 8 within the Mahamrityunja Yantra reflects both the numbers of the Fibonacci sequence and also the Earth-Venus relationship in which the five-foldness of the Venus pentagram cycle takes 8 earth years to complete.

Daily yoga and meditation classes, mantra chanting, karma yoga and yoga nidra, and havan (fire ceremony) together with the practical exploration of sacred geometry relating to the patterns of 5 and 8, will all be part of this retreat.

The Mahamrityunjaya yantra, associated with the relief of suffering and protection from negativity, will be created, with its accompanying mantra, as a meditation practice.

The retreat will be led by Brahmananda (Narendra Bharwaney) and Tom Bree of the Princes School of Traditional Arts.
