Working with the Patanjali Yoga Sutras
October 12 @ 10:00 am - 12:30 pm£10
The Patanjali Sutras are just as relevant today as when they were first written.
Their main focus is how the individual can have union with the divine. Yoga needs to be broadened beyond asanas and pranayama to encompass spirit – the Self. Svadhyaya – study of the Self is the royal route to this. The sutras also deal with the psychology of the mind; how we think and behave, what is beneficial or detriment to harmonious living. It is practical and the teachings can be applied to daily living in our world today.
In each session a different sutra is explored, to appreciate the resonances that only sankrit can give, and unfold its meaning together. It is not an academic exercise but experiential, each participant working to their own comfortable capacity. These teachings are universal and will be expanding in the light of other teachings i.e. Bhagavad Gita, Upanisads.
It is a small friendly group of genuine enquirers and the ashram provides a relaxed, peaceful and nurturing atmosphere.
