Sanskrit Sessions

Vanessa is being taught Sanskrit by Peter Harrison and she would like to share the knowledge she has gained so far. She is offering regular sessions after the Saturday lunch at each satsang. Everyone is welcome. The focus will be the correct pronunciation of Sanskrit as each vowel and consonant is articulated from a different part of the throat, mouth or lips. Sounding is a very important part of Sanskrit, the sound carries it’s meaning, hence the need to correctly pronounce it. It is so much more than just a language; it can deepen your spiritual understanding. The Patanjali Sutras have been chosen to illustrate the points arising
Vanessa wanted to read Sanskrit directly and this is what you can achieve yourself with regular practise. Simple homework will be provided to encourage progression.

Karma Yoga Work Weekend 30th May - lst June
We need to do some renovation and maintenance work on the buildings, so the Trustees thought it a good idea to have a work weekend. We need to redecorate the inside of the main building and do some work outside too. We will need volunteers to arrive on Friday afternoon from 3pm onwards to assist in clearing the areas to be decorated. The work will start on Saturday early, finishing off on Sunday morning. After lunch we will need some help to put everything back. Whatever your skills, there will be something for everyone to do even if it is only making tea. We can accommodate up to 8 people sleeping and hope that any other local volunteers may be able to help too. As usual, delicious food will be supplied by Rani and Raj. Any other donations of pre-made food will be gratefully received. Please email shirleyhately@yahoo.co.uk or telephone Shirley to volunteer (01322 662596). If you cant spare the whole weekend, please consider at least a morning or afternoon.
